What is a Skills Development Provider?
A Skills Development Provider (SDP) is an organisation formally accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and registered with a SETA to deliver occupational training in South Africa. SDPs offer nationally recognised qualifications on the NQF (National Qualifications Framework), ranging from short skills programmes to full occupational qualifications and artisan trade certificates.
SDPs serve job seekers looking to gain formal qualifications, matric graduates who did not gain university admission, employed workers whose employers use SETA levies to fund upskilling, and artisan learners pursuing a trade through apprenticeships.

What is a SETA?
A Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) is a statutory body established under the Skills Development Act (No. 97 of 1998). South Africa has 21 SETAs, each responsible for a specific economic sector. SETAs collect a Skills Development Levy (1% of payroll) from registered employers and fund learnerships, bursaries, and workplace training.
