Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care
📋 Entry Requirements
An applicant must comply with either points 1, 2 or 3. 1. Applicant with Senior Certificate (before 2009) with University exemption, or its equivalent (NQF level 4) and at least an E symbol on Higher Grade or a D symbol on Standard Grade pass for all of the following subjects: English. Mathematics. Physical science and/or Biology. 2. Applicants with a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Higher Certificate endorsement must have the following subjects at NQF level 4 and rating codes as stipulated: English (code 3). Mathematics (3) or Mathematical Literacy (6). Life Science (3) and/or Physical Science (3). Additional Subject 1 (code 3). Additional Subject 2 (code 3) The applicant must have a minimum of 15 points (18 points if Maths Literacy applies) which excludes Life Orientation. 3. Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational) must have achieved a minimum of 60% for all of the following subjects at NQF level 4: English. Mathematics. Life Science and/or Physical Science. A minimum of 40 hours of voluntary duties in Emergency Medical Services is recommended. Applicants must pass the medical and physical fitness evaluations to be considered for the course (medical and fitness evaluation guidelines will be available on the Mediclinic website). Eligible candidates will be invited to participate in an interview, medical and fitness assessments as part of the selection process.
